정원 만들기 GARDENING

새싹이 돋아나는 봄부터 늦은 가을까지 계절과 생명의 변화를 고스란히 반영하며 관람자에게 잠깐의 여유를 선사할 이번 전시는, 정원을 통해 헌신과 돌봄이라는 인간의 본성을 확인하고 나아가 모두가 자신만의 한 평 정원을 만드는 꿈을 꾸도록 독려합니다. 전시에는 체코의 대문호 카렐 차페크부터 퀴어 영화감독 데릭 저먼까지, 열정적으로
자신의 정원을 가꾸고 그 노동으로부터 얻은 사색과 영감을 작품 세계로 옮긴 예술가들을 소개하는 한편, 미술가 최정화, 영화감독 정재은, 그래픽디자이너 박연주, 화가 박미나 등 여러 분야의 작가들의 작품을
통해 정원의 의미를 되짚어 봅니다. 정원을 만들고 식물을 가꾼다는 것이, 그 노동을 감내해야 하는 인간에게는 어떤 의미가 있는지 살펴보는 전시로, 나아가 한 뼘의 작은 정원이라도 가꾸기 위해 우리가 할 수 있는 일이 무엇일지 질문을 던지기도 합니다.

Unfolding from spring through late autumn, this exhibition reflects the seasonal passage of time while offering a moment of rest within daily life. Through the metaphor of the garden, the exhibition highlights the human impulse toward care, dedication, and cultivation—and encourages visitors to imagine creating their own small garden space. Works by artists and writers including Karel Čapek and Derek Jarman—figures who devoted themselves to gardening and drew creative insight from its labor—are presented alongside works by Korean artists such as Choi Jeong-hwa, Jung Jae-eun, Park Yeon-ju, and Park Mina. Through these perspectives, the exhibition considers the meaning of tending soil and nurturing life, and asks: What does it mean—for individuals and communities—to cultivate a garden, even if it begins with only a small patch of earth?
